A few months into my new role as Vice President of IT at Digirad, it’s become clear: no matter how strong the strategy or how modern the infrastructure, the real transformation happens when you build the right team.
And I’m proud to say we’re doing just that.
In July, I was able to bring on two incredibly strong individuals from my former consulting firm — both of whom have already made a massive impact on the organization.
Ken Chau has come on board as our IT Manager and lead systems administrator. I’ve never met anyone more dedicated. He’s meticulous, tireless, and deeply invested in the work. Ken is overseeing the day-to-day operations of the team — currently a group of sharp consultants — while also digging in hands-on with systems management, network oversight, and long-term planning. I don’t say this lightly: Ken works harder than anyone I know.
Alongside him, we’ve brought in Patrick Struthers, a force of nature when it comes to systems engineering and cybersecurity. Patrick is reviewing our security posture from top to bottom, while continuing to push us forward on infrastructure optimization and architecture. He may be the most naturally talented technologist I’ve ever worked with. He sees the big picture, handles the smallest detail, and does it all with zero ego.
Both Ken and Patrick are not just top-tier professionals — they’re people I trust. They’ve quickly become friends as well as colleagues, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have them beside me as we take on the next chapter of Digirad’s IT transformation.
There’s a long road ahead — rebuilding a team, tightening processes, continuing the digital overhaul — but with this crew, I’m confident we’re headed in the right direction.
Here’s to strong starts, good people, and momentum that builds the right way.
