On July 31st, at her favorite sunset spot, I asked Summer to marry me – and she said yes! 💍
It was one of those perfect moments, even with a little twist in the plan.
Originally, I had it all mapped out for the week prior – clear skies, a golden sunset, and the perfect setting. But life threw us a curveball when our friends Megan and Dom showed up in town unexpectedly. Normally, I’d be thrilled to see them… but I was not thrilled that night. Megan noticed I wasn’t quite myself and gently pulled me aside to ask if I was okay. I said something like, “Yeah… it’s just… we had plans.”
She looked at me and joked, “What, were you proposing or something?”
So I did what anyone would do in that moment – I showed her the ring in my pocket.
Needless to say, proposal night was officially rescheduled.
Luckily, the following Friday brought another perfect sunset, and this time, everything aligned. I came home, suggested we take a walk downtown, and casually nudged her to wear something nice “in case we stop somewhere.” She didn’t suspect a thing.
When we reached the spot – just the two of us, no one else around – I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. My heart was pounding, even though I knew what the answer would be. Everyone says it’s nerve-wracking, and they’re absolutely right. But when she said yes, everything felt completely right.
We capped off the night with a champagne toast and a beautiful Italian dinner with wine, still floating a few inches above the ground.
Special thanks to Ken Chau for helping me out with the ring and his family jewelry store – Kim My Jewelry. They were fantastic and I highly recommend them!
Now… on to planning a wedding.
Let the next adventure begin.
